This sounds pretty great. Only complaint, could be a bit less reverb, and snare and kick could come up just a little bit more in the mix. Could I ask what synths and FX are used here?

VGMLibrary responds:

hey EDM364, thanx for input, mostly EastWest orchestral library and BFD drums

I know, Im a sucker for too much verb!

Writing is okay, but this is nowhere near dubstep. I'd say techno.

At points the mixing is way off, or your compression. That bass instrument occasionally climbs to JFC (Jesus F Christ) volume, and totally drowns out the rest of the track.

K-oztron responds:

Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

This was my first attempt at using FL Studio, so i still dont have the hang of it.

Kind of sounds like an F777 ripoff without the technical skill behind it. Not an avid fan enough to know but it just feels there is something missing. Could be lack of hi-hats and other elements in the track. Instruments sort of sound like presets.

K-oztron responds:

Thanks for the feedback! I was in no way trying to copy f-777, thank you very much

Sounds pretty cool, although the warping is a mite extreme for my tastes. I'd like to hear the original!

rwbaron responds:

Hey thanks for writing. Yeah the warping is a bit much, was intentional though hah. Here's the original https://soundcloud.com/robert-baron/scorpio

Cheers!

Monotonous, and there is a lot of distortion from being just way overcompressed and sound-goodized, it sounds like. Exactly what it says on the tin so I'll give an extra half star for that.

Deathl1nK responds:

I know, I over did the compression & distortion just to see how it would sound like

Definitely not DnB. Decent piece. Needs a bassline. Very top-heavy.

AlmostLonely responds:

Yeah sorry, I'm happy with 3 stars though. I can't find a good bass instrument so it's basically all treble. I'm saving up to get FL studio though, I'm not good with mobile apps.

Better. Still somewhat thin, but much better, more natural. Now I would just amplify this.

Also, I would, rather than uploading 2 files, just update the same one, unless there is some drastic change and you make a reel.

zachhemoglobin responds:

Right on, thanks for the advice, I'll get to work on the demo reel soon. The feedback is greatly appreciated as I'm very new to this sort of thing, and am willing to take any advice and opportunity to improve. You've been a great help.

Not a bad sounding piece, but definitely not DnB. Layered kick gets too heavy at some points but sounds great in the beginning. Your instrumentation is funky. Your EQ is a bit off though. Needs more highs.

Hackmusic responds:

I appreciate the feedback. More than anything I was just done working on this piece I'd done this much and just couldn't get it to sound better in a way that I'd like, so I just decided to put it out to show my account isn't dead.

Alright, and nothing particularly grating, but your voice is a little thin. There's also a lot of breathing into the mic. I recommend you take a look at this in a DAW, EQ and etc., and/or make a pop filter out of a sock and wire coat hanger to help mitigate that.

zachhemoglobin responds:

right on, i'll work on that and make an updated audition, thanks for the feed back.
