The mix is far from perfect, but the idea is fitting. I wish the crackling sounds and glitching was a few dB quieter. They're so clear in comparison to the rest of the track, it detracts from the smooth desolation of such wide, open space. I would say this fits the artwork well, and I appreciate your thoughtful, minimalistic writing. Your use of space was well thought out aside from the glitches. Will be in my considerations, for sure.

Azhthar responds:

Thanks a lot for the good feedback! I know my mixing is always a very weak spot but it gets a lottle better with time. I actually really had problems to place the glitch percussion in the mix. At the beginning they were always too much in the background and at the end they turned out to be too loud... At least it brought some dynamics into this part ;) Sorry for the delayed response. I was unavailable for while and missed all the final part of the AIM this year :(

A very thoughtful piece. I can offer no critique. However, to answer your question, I can say, yes, I have. It lead me to wonder how many people had been born. Upon a quick search, science estimates 108 billion or so, but that's probably horribly wrong.

LexRodent responds:

Thanks for listening.
That number sounds indeed a bit hard to believe. Population counts are something way too modern, and archives are even more.

I can imagine an actual funeral for a cockroach. Since I've never heard the entire La Cucaracha, it's hard to draw comparisons, but is nice.

LexRodent responds:

Thanks. I "translated" the original to a minor key to give it that mourning vibe for harmony and melodies, then I entangled them to make it more interesting. Here's a short instrumental mariachi version if you want to check it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQLCJsIof8s

This definitely sounds like some sort of olskool GBA game. I feel the progression could really use a bit of work. Quite repetitive. Feels like it doesn't really go anywhere. I can't critique beyond that since chip isn't my area of expertise. Did enjoy the listen.

Theepicosity responds:

I've never made a 3 minute long song before, (at the time of making this) so I just repeated the tune to see if it worked. Thanks!

Not too bad. Very raw obviously as beatboxing usually is. I would say edit your stuff in a DAW and get fancy. Could turn into a career.

MCCX-beats responds:

Thanks. I uploaded the wrong song, but thanks.

Not really my thing, but there are a lot of interesting sounds here to enjoy, and it doesn't hurt my hears in any sense. Once you start poking, it becomes music to my ears. Very spacey, musical music. I now see why everyone and their mother liked to mess around with these in their basements all hours of the night :P

Mich responds:

I really like the sound of a simple sine wave with some vibrato. :) Glad you enjoyed it, and glad I took AliceMako's advice of just hitting the record button whenever jamming away.

Thanks for the review!

Dear lord, you had to pay for marimba and etc? Please get Reaper or Cubase -- Reaper you can technically use forever until you can pay for it, and works with just about everything imaginable. A lot of pros use it.

Composition is decent. A lot of repeating the same stuff over and over, which gets boring quick, but a start is a start.

Patriotsean responds:

I just had marimba sounds off of a app

Honestly, despise this meme. Would give a star for effort/quality, such as actually trying to make something listenable.
