Nice chord progression in the beginning, and lo-pass play

By 33 seconds I'd have expected a bit more dramatic of a transition into the intro than doubling the melody. I used to listen to a guy by the name of Kush on YT. A rule he had for transitions was either add two things, or take two things away :)

Cool piece. Cheers

Thanks, I'll consider your advice!

Interesting concepts, a lot of them repeating. I think some study of song structure, contemporary meaning, and a lot of the all over the place feeling of this composition could be tamed into a more comprehensible and enjoyable structure. You have a lot of nice sounding ideas. Just sounds like it isn't quite sure where it wants to go :)

Signals Music Studios is a good place to start

Winkwing responds:

Many thanks! I plan to be working on more stuff sooner or later, so there might be a sudden wave of posts from me.

Also, RIP the VS Joy mod, got completely abandoned after like 2 songs were made for it.

Didn't you sing this when I first made it, too? Lmao

Super authentic sounding olskool acid going on here. It takes quite a while to develop, as is the fashion, though I think I would like just a little more obvious filter play leading into 3:20. 4:15 sample brings the emotional chord progression to an almost tearful point.

Still invested by 5:36. Perhaps a little taming of 20khz plus frequencies through here would do it well. 6:21 build is functioning well and nicely produced.

7:14 that vocoded sample could probably be panned back and forth for a bit more play in the space. Brauer motion if you don't have it is a great plugin for that, great for arpeggiating and quick automated pans

Overall, a good contemporary techno piece, or at least what will have been considered contemporary in a few decades. Makes me miss the 90's. Better days

Lashmush responds:

My next EDM project is "Power of Celtic". Ive failed that one twice on NG so im gonna do it justice and do it right. Shiva Shidapu is 90s psytrance legends (one of which went on to become Infected Mushroom). c:

Glad to see you still kicking it here on NG. Been following you since I joined NG. Not a huge fan of dubstep, but it reminds me a lot of your old style, and the mix sounds good from what I can hear on my speaker.

You got any other networks you post on?

Psybot responds:

I really happy that you left a review man! I dont have as much inspiration to make music anymore, but a few time a year i try to get something together.
I have all my stuff here atm. Though I have some on Spotify and youtube, this is where I have my "archive".

Music have become so advanced and I'm overthinking it when I'm producing. Trying to get a fresh sound and composing at the same time get really overwhelming while trying to make some sweet tunes. :P

I hope you are well and I'm honored to have been an artist to awaken your nostalgia!

Peace!

Really pretty chords. Smooth. I think your pulsing gated chords could come down a bit, as could your lead, since the rest of the track is so quiet.

XenonNinja responds:

thank you for the feedback!

Lots of really cool ideas here. I think it could be benefited by some study of song structure and more typical production -- YT is wonderful for this. But otherwise it reminds me of olskool videogame soundtracks

LeanYeenMachine responds:

Thanks for the feedback and the follow! I'm going to keep looking into the things you suggested.

Really cool concept for a track, and good writing, however the output audio is distorting really badly. See if you can turn it down some in LMMS, then use another editor like audacity to amplify it if needed. I really like that you used samples of your own voice. Super indie producer thing to do and keeps things interesting.

Tristanlagreato responds:

Thank you! ^_^ Sorry about the volume/distortion, I tend to listen to things on my headphones really quiet, and so I make things high volume so I can hear it. This is actually a kinda old song, believe it or not. My new songs are better, but I haven't posted them here yet, they're only on SoundCloud so far because I'm new to Newgrounds. I decided to post this on here so long after making it was because I thought Newgrounds needed more royalty free music, and also that I wanted to see how well my song would do. Thank you for your feedback! ^_^

Really smooth tune, lots of variation and modulation I hear going on in your synths.

Only thing, your drums are hiding. Bring them out by lowering the volume of other instruments and mixing at a quiet output volume level. Then apply mastering compression until you get a suitable volume. Try out some mixing tutorials and see what happens. As far as I'm concerned, that's really the only thing this track lacks.

Great work. Keep it coming!

ItsStephJM responds:

I was worried about the drums being too loud so I may have overcompensated in lowering the volume on them.

In general I like messing with all the soundfonts and VSTs I've accumulated over 5 years, it's why there's a massive variance in the synths!

Thank you for the critique!
