Cool

Why is this listed as Classical instead of Heavy Metal or another guitar/bass oriented genre? The only hints of classical I hear is the organ, choir, and background. Despite this, it is a very cool song. The only thing I'd have changed is I would have actually had someone play the guitar and add lots of distortion. The bass is bad ass by the way. That's why I love it.

Great demo!

I love this. It's got a really catchy rythm and a nice tempo to match. If you submit the full version, I definitely know I'll be loving it. I don't think there's any way to improve it, either. This is some good stuff, and congrats on getting the best of the week. I hope to hear more from you.

Musical-Pants responds:

Well, as far as hearing more from me is concerned, I just submitted a song called "someday" that I think is worth checking out.
I will be finishing this sometime, I guess best of the week isn't bad for incentive ;)
Thanks for the review!

This is very good

This definitely sounds like it's a boss battle song, and although I feel it should be a lot heavier, I do like it a lot. For a four day deadline song, it is exceptional. You don't often find something like this made in such a short time. You did a very, very great job on this. The strings sound a bit fake, and some other VST's do as well, but that's probably not going to be noticed by anyone playing a game and trying to beat a boss. It would have been better had it sounded more evil/epic though.

Dimoria responds:

A totally agree. But I think I'm gona make a "final boss" song , that is much more evil and heavier. That's at least what I'm planning to do. I agree with the vst instruments. I would like to have multis that is one instrument that you can use for short strokes long trills vibratoes etc. I think I laid the weight of the song on the guitars. I wanted to make something catchy and that would make the boss fight feel as it had tons of action. I will vote this review as helpfull. Thanks alot. :)

Great!

This is really nice! All the guitar work was perfect. The synths were good, but were terrible in one particular place where the 'brass' and piano were going solo at 3:25. Other than the various screwups of the synths, which I will excuse because I know how synths can really suck, it was an awesome song. Great use of chords. What key is this in?

Good

This is a very nice piece for beginners to learn from. Hopefully I can learn to play as well as you do. I play some piano, but I suck at it for the most part. I can't point out any flaws at the moment, but I can say that it is beautiful in its simplicity. It'd make a nice loop for a movie or game. It's two AM here, so I must go to bed. I've stayed up just to listen to this piece and leave my thoughts.

Hey!
I was worried whether people would understand what I was trying to do with this opus. If you ever need sheet music, don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you for gracing me with your lovely reviews.

Variety, just what I like

This song is cool. I like it. The tuba sounds really fake, but it goes pretty well with the rest of the song. I think there were too many tempo changes, but that's just my opinion. This is pretty good. I like the intro the most.... before the snare roll...

Good...

... but not great. I like it, but I feel that there could be a lot improvements made on this. The high pitched piano-ish synth and the one you used to accompany it gave me a headache. It needs a lot of work...

Meh

This is okay, but synth guitars aren't good for songs. They just suck. Trust me, I know. Ditch the synth/midi guitar, and have a decent player record something for you.

The bass is good, and so is the organ and synth brass. They sound cool, but the synth guitars ruined it.

Sorry if I sound like I'm being an ass, but it's 1 AM here and I'm having a bad day. Either I'm not sleeping well or I'm not at all. I don't mean to be an ass about your song.

linkfan23 responds:

I don't mind at all. I actually appreciate what you're telling me. I'll remember that next time. I also was going for more of a retroey(?) feel to the song, thus the synth.

It's alright.

I like it... Somewhat.... The synths all sound so out of place, even with nice accompanying instruments used with them. This is cool, but I just didn't feel it. Also, I'm not a big fan of the Fruity Loops Studio series, I prefer something more simple, like Mixcraft 4. It has a library (even if some of the loops suck), and it has features that let you make up rythms with synth instruments in clip form. (ex: you can use a drum kit synth to 'build' the drums you have here) Not saying FL isn't good, but MXC works better for me when I want to make tech, trance or dance.

windu190 responds:

is mixcraft 4 free??

Good!

The beginning sounds pretty scary. I'd say it'd be good for a scary movie. I hear a familiar melody in there from another submission I listened to ages ago. Good work! There are so many transitions, but that makes it more cool. In a few places, the synth and the choir didn't fit. That was around 2:09 to 2:20 seconds into it. This is really cool, keep it up!

AvatarKami responds:

Hey, thanks for the review. I was kind of going for something more ominous in the beginning that transitioned to something light and ethereal. As for the familiar melody, I do have a piano part from this song that is close to one of my other songs, Emotionally Screwed. The only other explanation that I can offer is that the melody that your thinking of might have used some of the same loops as I used here. I hear what you're saying about the choir not matching and I tried to fix that in post production, messing with the levels, but some of it still got through. Thanks for the compliments. Will do.
