Good chord progression. Stringy pad isn't sticking out too hard but could do with being lowered a bit. Lead could come down as well. I feel like whatever you're mixing on overemphasises bass frequencies, and tones down treble. Really watch those frequencies, because every mix I've heard from you is extremely top-heavy.

Kick could use a little modulation so it doesn't sound like a midi regurgitation. Perc overall could use some variation.

Not bad. Chord progression is good. Mixing needs serious improvement. Instruments sound like presets and are a bit too loud, overpowering percussion. Bass is distorting in the mix somewhat. Other than that, good listen.

Sounds like Alpha Sampler and Omni Sampler. Fairly creative use of samplers, but the bass suffers for it. Sounded like a midi. Mixing could be better.

Not bad. Side chain is a little harder than necessary at some points, and vocal oneshots need a bit more attention paid to them. Drop is pretty sick, though. Just watch your instrument separation and soundspace.

DemonicNobility responds:

Thanks for your feedback! I'll try doing my ducking automations differently and maybe play with the release times to fix the sidechaining. Also if you're talking about the "what?" and the "ur gay" vocals, those were just little jokes. I will try to keep the mix cleaner and not have so much going on, maybe even some more panning. But again thanks for your feedback!

For a first track, is fantastic, but mixing could be a lot better, and it sort of feels as if it's aimlessly looking around in an empty shopping mall, trying to figure out where to go.

BitPower responds:

Yep, I agree with you, but I have no idea how to mix xD Gonna have to spend a few hours watching some tutorials xD Anyways, thanks for the review!

Sounds like someone went to an awesome school. There's a lot of distortion in this mix though. A side effect of being a bit too damn loud at points. Also sounds like college life. Butterscotch!

wunder0 responds:

Thanks! It was awsome indeed. I agree with your statements, was a good learning opportunity.

There's a little distortion on those bells in the beginning, feels like, and synth cello is almost grating on the ears, but what it lacks in real instrumentation here, it makes up with good composition and mixing. I could do with a little more velocity and modulation on the bass, and perhaps a more realistic amp. You could even change up the bassline to eliminate those straight 8th. Those are what make it sound so synthy. The portamento is great though!

Sounds great! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for reviewing.
I was unsure about the harmonics on the high freqs, looks like I overdid them.
I'll try a different amp on the bass and try to make it go along with the kick so it goes more "swingy" and see how it turns out.

Not bad. What sounds like a 303 is really sticking out in some parts though, and you could probably do with popping a master limiter on there.
