Nice

It sounds interesting, if not a tad clippy. Nature-y sounds are a good touch. I'd like to hear more!

Nakisima responds:

Well hear more you may, the drop down menu to your left holds everything I ever created, good and bad. If I'm honest mostly bad, but crucial to developing my understanding of the program I am using to this day. You learn from making mistakes after all :P Thanks,

Very nice!

So, what you're saying is, you took Audacity and made this? Congratulations, I'm impressed. I heard a few blunders (like hitting a lower string that clashed with the rest of the chord) but I have virtually no room to talk, since I do that all the time; it's all good. I really like where you went with such a simple sounding concept. It sounds very nice.

tazz780 responds:

hahaha, well when I recorded this I won't lie, the string on my acoustic were as old as dirt so they didn't have a clean tone so that low string was a bit messy. But in the mix I tried to eliminate it by bringing down the high's. Yeah I moved on to protools and a studio setup now so my future projects will be a lot better. It's hard to edit and mix and get the sound you want on audacity but for where I was it was free haha ;)
Thank you very much for your feedback! much appreciated!.

Pretty!

Ever consider writing any of this down? It sounds quite beautiful and dynamic. :D

CheckMark responds:

I actually did write this peice down for piano. I wrote it for my music appreciation teacher composed specifically for her level. It was a page long I gave it to her as a surprise at finals (: She loved it

Again, interesting.

I find the glitchy build up in the beginning to be a big improvement from your earlier work. It seems more dynamic. I'm not a huge fan of the kick (not heavy enough for my tastes, or driving, but it suffices pretty well and doesn't sound offensive, as a plus) .. The melody you added in the piano felt out of tune with the backing at times too, but was pretty refreshing considering that it built up. Overall, it's pretty relaxing, rather than having that heart-pounding energy that most drum-n-bass has. Anyway, nice work!

KI1 responds:

Taha, I see your point about the kick. The style of DnB isn't dirty enough for any strong kicks, it sounded a bit out of place I reckoned.
The melody was done in less than five minutes, I was too lazy to improve unfortunately.
Thanks for you review :P

Interesting

Hmm, nice build in the beginning here - not much a fan of the string synths, but I know that good ones are hard to find. The break down and fresh sounds are a nice change, but it seems like something is missing for a bit until about 1:24 ish. I'd say you need some mid-range melodies to help fill the hole, rather than just the same bassline touched on. Otherwise, I'd say it's great. This is actually more dub-trance, I'd say, given that the melody is mostly the same. Good work though - big improvements here. It sounds pretty fresh!

5/5, you deserve it, especially after all these zero bombers came through.

KI1 responds:

I've looked everywhere for some decent strings and this is the closest I got >_<
I agree with the melody part. I spent weeks on the bass chords and no time on a melody at all... Silly me.
Dub-trance eh?... Sounds good to me :P
Thanks for your helpful insight as always ;)

Silly.

I always thought this song was very whimsical, even for an FF song. You make it sound both evil, sneaky, and hilarious. Good job!

5/5, fav, download. =D

viion responds:

Thank you! :D

Would do well as an album intro

My only complaint is that the quarter notes keep dying out during the chorus. It's best to use whole notes in place of repeating quarter notes. It would probably do better in classical, unless you had electrical guitars going. It sounds pretty good, other than that. Good work!

Hend responds:

Indeed the notes do die out but I thought it gave a nice 'oomph' to the rhythm during that section. I also wondered how it would fare in Classical but found most of the stuff there was significantly softer than this. It might be considered too 'heavy' or too 'rock' for there, but I could be way off, heh.

Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you liked it! :)

Hmm... Tranquil

Despite the part around 0:30 with that glitchy synth being a little nerve wracking, I very much enjoyed the song. The breakdown around 1:20 was pretty cool, leading back into the weird chorus, which didn't annoy me that time around. Like on a lot of your other songs, I love your bass line synth.

Still, EQ'ing out the static would be nice. You did a good job though. It doesn't bother me much at all. :)

KI1 responds:

If it was difficult to notice, this was supposed to be my second attempt at 'Fear of Light' but meh. I dunno what came over me to use that synth, it just sounds... crap as well as having issues with the delay and reeverb on it :/
But yeah, I'll have to remember to do some EQ'ing in the future :P

Cool

The bass synth is awesome. The only really terrible thing I find wrong with it is a few note discrepancies and the string synths, which chopped up the flow of the song. The piano and bass part around 2:00-ish was soothing though, and that makes up for it. Some EQ would be nice though. It is pretty static-y, nothing I can't put up with though.

As for throwing the rhythm off, no, it's perfectly fine. I definitely think I like your later songs better though, which is a good thing, since it means you've improved. Good work!

KI1 responds:

Yeah, those strings were crap, I think they were some of the FL default samples :/
I only use VST plugins for strings and classical instruments, etc...
As for the EQ'ing I had no idea about it 'back then' but I'm trying to get into it now :P

A little messy, but no biggie

Some of the notes felt like they weren't supposed to go together, but after a while of listening to them, it felt right. Good job. :)

KI1 responds:

Heh, thanks :P
Yeah, some of the bassnotes kinda contradict the main lead :/
