It sounds like you're doing a lot. Kudos.

Wish I was fluent in Russian (or some non-Latinate language)... So many people in the world are bilingual or better now; meanwhile in the US we mostly still speak English. :-(

When did you come to the United States? Do you keep up with the Russo-Ukraine war at all?

Thanks! I'm actually a native English speaker but I took an extremely intensive Russian course in 2020. So Russian effectively took over my life. I didn't have a normal English accent for two years and still can't say some syllables "right." My Russian is getting rustier than I'd like since I live in the US, but if I talk to Russians in a regular basis it returns pretty easily. Same with reading or listening.

I don't keep up with the Russia Ukraine war much as there is so much propaganda on both ends, but I do know Russian enemies of state tend to end up dead pretty quickly, like the Wagner Group's leader after he mutinied, and Ukraine's president would rather drag on the war as long as possible than let go of a single US tax dollar. The weakened leadership in the US on the national stage sets the field for a long and drawn out proxy war.

@shadenlines, you said non-latinate. Do you know any other languages?

That's a reasonable & realistic take. Yours is better than > 90% of the comments I read in threads on Instagram & elsewhere.

No, unfortunately. I used to have some familiarity with Hebrew but that was yeeaarrrs ago. These days I can't read any Hebrew that doesn't have diacritical (vowel) marks...which is most of it. I know a few words in Arabic but cannot write them. Am trying to learn more when I can.
