@cyberdevil lemme know what you think of the new sound <3
Not bad. :) Voice-wise you almost sound like Alanis Morissette sometimes... though is this you? You along with the original audio? Both layers you, just so different mixing...? It's an interesting effect. And the style, some eighties element, something nostalgic, sounds so different from the common norm...
I feel I'm missing something though. Guitar solo? Some kind of scream/high-pitched part of the song? Some kind of peak to break the pattern, maybe...?
Indeed, tis all yours truly. Probably the most I've done with a vocal line mixing speaking. I stereospatialized the harmony, doubled the lead. They're compressed with different multiband compressors to make them either stand out or sit in the mix. Recording probably could have been better though. I did everything in three takes, some of which had crackle from killing my processor with all the track FX on and nothing muted LOL
It probably could take a solo, but I wasn't really sure what to do with one. The original song if you listen doesn't really have one, just that slow section you hear here. I probably could have pared down the harmony throughout the song and brought it in for the last chorus? Shrug. Definitely a lot of inspiration from the 80's. And a lot of Duran Duran. What do you think about the instrumentation?
Daaamn you lost me at stereospatialized. XD I need to read up on production... three takes seems quick btw. How much do you usually spend?
Duran Duran hmm, wonder if I hear any resemblance... was going to say something about Eurythmics but not really similar enough either. Maybe yeah, or just added in a wail at the end of it and gone crazy with the instruments a bit? :) I liked the instrumental bit, guitar's heavy, moody, the intro had som interesting percussion in it... triangle and brass of some sort...? Not sure what instruments those are.
I do feel like the instrumental gets a little monotone in the stretch past two minutes, longest part without variation I think, but overall it's a fascinating mixture. Toned down, dreamy metal ambience...
