So, I should review more, specifically, everything in the audio portal tagged AIM2018?

BTW, what a great contest idea AIM is! What better way to troll your favorite artist, then by the gift of music (subjectively speaking/singing). Shame there isn't a comedy booby prize, or indeed a side contest. Golden, silver and bronze Turds of AIM, because damn, I need a good laugh

Yep -- or you can follow the submission thread here

Would you like to join the crew?

Also, yes. @RealFaction has done a ton of organizing this year, but sometimes I wish we could have awards for these competitions, trophies and badges or something that show up on the user stat page.

Thanks! Yeah I hope I can keep it that way. :) Also do agree about school. I liked it up till around... seventh grade maybe... but somehow during those final years it just started getting tiresome. Not that it was much work but just: no motivation. Nothing interesting. Nothing new. Did skip quite a few classes too.

EMCC Mighty Lions? Would love to see that. XD You've got skills when it comes to sleeping/napping/resting/all of that!

Haha, yeah, maybe humans just have too many joints for that to work the same. Let me know how it goes if you do try though...

I mean, I hated it until 6th grade, and then I still hated it until it was time for band! LOL

I'll have to find the video some time, but you might be able to find it under EMCC Mighty Lion Band. It's a full overhead shot of the band completely still, for a couple seconds, in the middle of the promo. You can't see it too well, but we're in a chevron formation, I'm near one of the ends, and, well, I don't wiggle, so there's not really anything to notice! I was awake when the close up cams rolled around but they didn't use that footage. We were standing out there like that for a couple hours!

Maybe it might work on knees and elbows? In band, we called it hiding (from the sun), and it did make me drowsy.

Everyone please welcome @SevenSeize to the party! She commented last time around but, as we all know, my brain is dying a slow, confusing death.

Updates: I'll go over the new responses to our form tonight. @ChronoNomad has updated our sheet for monthly updates, and @byteslinger is programming automation for the roster.

After AIM, our next reviewing event will tentatively be NGADM, which I personally am looking forward to. @MetalRenard should be in charge of running that competition this year. Additionally, if anyone knows of any art/movie/game heads from the other Portals, the Ludum Dare events, etc., I'm not opposed to having them either forward me information about their events or invite us on over as a panel. Whatever works.

As for AIM, be sure to follow the Submission thread here!

I will be updating the newspost to reflect this, if possible, but since that wouldn't notify you all of any changes, I figured a comment would work better.

Welcome to the party @SevenSeize !!

@Cyberdevil sup

@SevenSeize yo

Aha. XD Guess I might've been fortunate to have the right kind of teachers until then, then! Some as good as SevenSeize, maybe...

Any idea what year it was though? Seems like a looot of videos, promos, intros, no covers instantly stand out.

Haha maybe! XD

It probably was 2014-2015 or something like that. It's the one with the two girls in the shiny red and black sequin things, doing some kind of salute. Our drum majors were some fiiiine ladies.

@SevenSeize Welcome to the gang :D

@I0TA hi hi !!!!

Btw, are we reviewing them now or wait until judging begin

I'll be setting a weekday to review all of them, tbh, just so as not to fall behind. You're welcome to do as you like

This sounds like a lot of fun, I might try it. I just need a program for it....

@Qira I was sure I had replied to this via feed, but comments are acting up on my end.

Cakewalk Sonar is a good program. Now that they've been bought out by Bandlab, it's free too.

Hmm somewhere in this one (bit fast though)? https://youtu.be/aOS2cpKHzis
Or the full feature? https://youtu.be/dIn63UDjTnY

Here ya go, assorted band pics. 2 zips. One for each vid. Bonuses in 2nd folder too for shiggles

Ey, thanks! :D Looks like a fun time overall. Also so entertaining attempting to follow those arrows for a while. XD So much in the background. Shiggles achieved.

Yeah, I freaking loved band. Rare they actually got a close up shot of me ever, since the band was so big. In our 2013-14 show, you can actually hear a solo by me, our last song. It's the same show as the one with my phone obviously lighting up in my pocket LOL. I was also about to die the day that picture was taken. Literally, like, the black people were turning white. The turf was turning yellow. The white people looked like angels. My tonsil was going septic and we didn't know it until they did a biopsy that night on this huge freaking black mass. That's why I look like shit in the face LOL. Couldn't even see straight.

I always felt weird that my instrument was about 1/3 to 1/2 as tall as me, sticking out of my face practically farther than I could reach.

Oh nice! I mean: the solo, not those tonsil troubles. XD Crazy day...

Instruments like that do make the wielder looks somewhat comical - not all as rockstar-like as say an electric guitar. :P Do you still play though, outside band? Btw if you're into anime you might like this: https://myanimelist.net/anime/27989/Hibike_Euphonium

I haven't played since last homecoming when I came and fixed up everyone's instruments -- or maybe it was a basketball game. I'm sad to report I've been told the euphonium section sounds almost nonexistent without me -- and can confirm. I remember having to actually teach some of them their music, and it was the end of the season! I'd heard the band program sagged a bit with our director's illness, but I had no idea it was that bad, or the euph section so forgotten. Maybe it was just me, but Stringer and King lit our asses up when I was there. Maybe could just hear us better ig LOL.

I also couldn't believe I could still hit that high ass G at a good fff on "Neck," as in, "Talking out the side of your neck." It's a particular arrangement I'd have to find to show ya, but the C to G gliss at that SWAC-type volume is rough on a large bore euphonium, and the G is easy to overshoot. I was surprised that it was just as easy after two years of not touching my sweet baby as it was mid-season before I graduated.

I really was disappointed about the new blood.

I always recall my directors motioning specifically and me and giving me the "up finger," probably because if I hadn't had a battery up my ass, the rest of the band wouldn't just sit on top of the euph line; they'd flatten us.

My first year, I was lucky enough to have a section that would listen to me and play out. Second year, one of the guys was a stand in, and the other had all the lung capacity of a wet paper bag, complete with the gumption of a dead horse. He flew hot air balloons though, and I understood that was what he'd much rather be doing. I was just happy he had a decent horn angle and looked in-step most of the time.

Third year there were four of us, and two hardly played, but between me and Tony (we were together enough that people thought he was cheating on his gf oddly enough), I had a little more freedom to catch my breath. That solo you heard was my first year, our first time on the field, with Tony on a completely different instrument (trumpet), and we only got mics later in the season, aside from maybe the vibes, glock, and marimba. I remember the band had just got a new building, too, and the carpet glue was too fresh to even go in for two straight weeks while they worked on the place -- so that it smelled like rotten cat vagina our first couple weeks there -- and we had to practice our whole show in an auditorium before running across campus to the practice field, the old football stadium, which has now been deconstructed and turned into a frisbee field slash future dormitory, haha.

Also, gonna check out that link. It sounds cool af. Mostly because anything euphonium is cool. I miss it dearly.

Terminology over my head there. XD Sounds like you really know your instrument! That's cool though. Being such an important part of the group. Entertaining stories too!

Yeah Hibike! Euphonium was surprisingly good, felt like they really captured the essence of the show, the excitement and angst leading up to it, the practice, the atmosphere of it all... learned some terminology too though that disappeared pretty quick. :P Curious to hear how authentic it really was if you ever watch it.

@ADR3-N I am now just seeing this, but thank you so much for the information :)
